Baby Opticals by Mustachifier™

www.mustachifier.com

I recently received an email about the expansion of the Mustachifier brand. Even though I have twin girls, I was already pretty familiar with the Mustachifier brand because:

  1. I love mustaches, so they were on my radar.
  2. I’ve already dressed my daughters up with mustaches before I had a chance to get any Mustachifiers.
  3. I received Mustachifiers as gifts for the girls from my cousin and her husband!

I was really excited to learn that the brand expansion included Baby Opticals. It’s never too early to start building your kids’ accessories collection – and that includes sweet sunglasses. My girls already have a few pairs of sunglasses, but after browsing the Baby Opticals collection, I saw at least four more pairs that I would love to get for them!

EasyOnTheEyes

The Baby Opticals line features 100% UVA and UVB protection, as well as polarized, shatter-resistant frames in an assortment of colors: Black, Blue, Pink, White, and Yellow. The Baby Opticals line likewise offers chic Black and White glasses for the burgeoning hipster baby, also providing the 100% UVA and UVB protection. They’re great for kids ages 0-4 years and are $14.99.

The folks over at Mustachifier sent me a pair of Baby Opticals in Black to try out. I put them on the girls and snapped a few photos:

My girls are 9 months old, so they are still at an age where they prefer to put accessories directly into their mouths. Every single pair of sunglasses they own ends up in their mouths within five minutes of wearing them, and Baby Opticals were no exception! Something that I really liked about the Baby Opticals was that they include a band to go around the back of your child’s head, which is great for when your baby inevitably pulls the sunglasses off of their face. No more lost sunglasses!

Overall, the Baby Opticals sunglasses were great and totally cute, obviously. My girls actually do a better job of wearing them for long periods of time when they’re out in the sun and not just sitting in the rocking chair for a quick photo session. I’m sure I’ll share some more photos in the future when I buy some of the other adorable styles of Baby Opticals.

My Top Five Must-Have Baby Items for the First Six Months with Twins

I’ve survived the first six months of being the mom of twin girls! Woohoo! My little ones have now tripled in weight and are full of personality. My heart is so full!

In the past six months I’ve used a variety of products that I absolutely loved and wanted to share my top five picks with any other moms that may be looking for registry or even gift ideas for a twin mom. I am providing these recommendations on my own and am not being compensated by any of the brands or products I mention. I have, however, included some affiliate links to products. If you click on those links and purchase the product, then I will receive a commission from the sale.

Okay, let’s get to it!

Baby Trend Double Snap-N-Go Stroller ($84.49)

I can’t recommend this stroller frame enough! I really struggled with finding an easy-to-use stroller for twin newborns.

I read every review out there and eventually decided that this would be a great first stroller that would work as long as the girls were in their infant car seats. We have Graco Snugride carseats, but this stroller frame will work with just about anything. You just drop the infant car seats in the frame, strap them in, and you’re ready to go!

We get two babies in and out of the car in less than a minute with this thing. It’s also lightweight and doesn’t take up much space in the back of our car.

Fisher-Price Newborn Rock n’ Play Sleeper ($69.89)

I knew I wanted my babies to sleep in the room with me for the first few months. I read about all sorts of mini cribs, co-sleepers, and bassinets out on the market, but I kept seeing moms recommend the Rock n’ Play Sleeper. After reading through hundreds of great reviews, I decided to register for two of them.

I really loved the convenience of the sleepers. They were the perfect height for my bed and allowed me to easily reach in and soothe my babies. We never put the girls in the sleepers for naps or just for sitting, only for night sleeping. The incline was also really great for their short bouts of reflux and also when they were stuffy with their first colds.Once our girls started rolling over, we stopped using these and started putting them to sleep at night in their cribs. They had absolutely no problems transitioning to the crib, which was unexpected and great!

Boppy Pillow with Slipcover ($34.84)

Our Boppies went everywhere with us for the first few months. My girls were so tiny when they were born that we couldn’t really use the Boppy Pillow until they were about a month old, but once we started using it, we used it a lot.

The Boppy Pillow has a ton of uses including support during feedings, propping up your babies to reduce spitting up after feedings, support for tummy time, and as a safety cushion when they are learning to sit up. So useful! This is a definite must-have in my book.

Gerber Sleep N Play Zip Front Pajamas ($9.99)

I received a pair of these pajamas at my baby shower, but thought nothing more than, “Oh, cute!”

Flash forward to when my babies were about a month old. I came across these pajamas while going through their clothes and noticed the zippered front. Why had I been struggling with snaps (that I can never seem to line up the first time) in the middle of the night? I put these in the wash and used them that very night. Since then I have bought countless pairs of these!

Many other brands sell zippered pajamas, and that’s totally the way to go! You won’t see me buying anything with snaps. I’m zippers all the way. Target’s brand Circo also sells some great zippered pajamas that I love equally as much as the Gerber Sleep N Plays.

Fisher-Price Piano Gym ($39.99)

My girls started using this activity mat from an early age. We only bought one of them and at six months they can both still fit under it and play together.

It has brought us countless hours of giggles and happy babies. Our dog Sully really likes it too…

So, there you have it! Those are the top five things I could not have done without over the last six months. I have plenty of other product recommendations that make life easier and I’m sure I’ll tell you about them at some point. What are your top five baby items you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments!

Assessables Bodysuits

At work I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jonelle Krier, a Huggies MomInspired grant recipient and founder of Assessables. When Jonelle heard about my pregnancy she insisted on sending me a couple Assessables bodysuits for the girls to try out. I gladly accepted the gift!

Assessables Onesies

Assessables umbilical bodysuits allow for a safer way to care for newborns’ umbilical cords. The bodysuits feature a small hole for umbilical cord exposure for air drying of the cord. Jonelle created the bodysuits after working as a nurse in a hospital and realizing the need for an updated neonatal garment that would provide umbilical exposure while providing quick opening for assessment of baby’s heart, lungs, bowels and diaper.

We brought our Assessables bodysuits with us to the hospital and actually used the bodysuit and matching pants as the girls’ going home outfits. We had newborn sized bodysuits and they were a little big on our girls, but our girls were a bit smaller than the average newborn! The nurses loved the bodysuits and wanted to know where to get them. To say they were a hit would be an understatement!

I’d definitely recommend Assessables to any friends that were expecting. I think many new moms get a little anxious about umbilical cord care and with these bodysuits you can easily check on the cord at any time and be reassured that it’s not being irritated by regular onesies. For $11.99 you can’t beat the price and there’s a wonderful assortment of colors to choose from! Jonelle has been kind enough to offer a 20% discount to any of my readers interested in purchasing an Assesables bodysuit by using the promo code “sweetheartbeats” at check out.

I received the Assessables bodysuits as a gift. All thoughts and opinions regarding the product are my own.
